PURE ESSENTIAL OILS

Information

Taobao.com    基底精油(163)

Most carrier oils that we sell are conventional rather than organic because the conventional oil is much cheaper than the organic oil.  The Organic Sunflower and Organic Rosehip are priced nearly the same as the conventional oil.  Other organic carriers are more expensive.  We do however provide the organic oils as well.

Shirley Price vegetable oils are the finest available.  Some are good enough to eat and can be drizzled on salad (not jojoba!) to realise their nutritional benefits.  Most of our vegetable carrier oils are conventional because only sunflower and jojoba organic oils are similarly priced to conventional oils.  Other carrier oils are much more expensive.

The carrier is 95% of a massage mix so it makes sense to use and organic carrier oil where its price is similar to conventional oils.

Carrier oils should be cold pressed.  Our suppliers produce many organic oils from seeds which are heated to 60 degrees C in a screw press and extracted.  the first oil collected is known as virgin pressed.  Refining for the edible oils industry at higher temperatures has a destructive effect on the aroma, vitamin and enzyme content.  As most food buyers require refined oils the huge quantities they order bring the price down to very low levels.  Aromatherapy base oils are unrefined.

Macerated oils include calendula, carrot, hypericum, lime blossom and melissa.  Any medicinal plant can be macerated.  Half fill a jar with chopped up plant material.  Fill with warm oil olive or sunflower with 10% wheatgerm oil to preserve the end product.  Place in the warm for a week to 10 days shaking from time to time.  Filter off the plant material.

Vegetable oils are useful for Acne, bed sores, broken veins, bruises, chapped skin, chillblains, dandruff, dry scalp, dry skin, eczema, fluid retention, inflamation, mature skin, nappy rash, neuralgia, oily skin, psoriasis, rejuvenating, relaxing sleep, rheumatism/arthrities, scares, sciatica, skin rashes, sprains, sunburn, sun protection, ulcers, varicose veins, wounds, wrinkles.  Ref Shirley Price's Aromatherapy Workbook 2000 p173
